HC Deb 02 May 1977 vol 931 c15W
Mr. Eldon Griffiths

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, in view of the large numbers of overseas tourists who congregate in the vicinity of Big Ben, he will take steps to remove the dirt, bird droppings and general filth that at present disfigures No. 1 Bridge Street; and what are his plans for the future of this prominent building.

Mr. Marks

The future use of No. 1 Bridge Street, and other buildings in this area, is at present under consideration. Until this is resolved it is not proposed to clean the stonework of this building, but any offensive dirt will be cleared away.
