asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many acres are owned by his Department in England and Wales, respectively.

As at 1st April 1977 the Ministry of Defence held 469,336 acres of freehold and leasehold land in England and 37,470 acres of foreshore. In addition, rights were held over a further 64,473 acres. At the same date the Ministry of Defence held 52,495 acres of freehold and leasehold land in Wales and 2,637 acres of foreshore, with rights over a further 2,962 acres.
