HC Deb 02 May 1977 vol 931 c4W
32. Mr. Whitehead

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if he will review the powers of his Department in relation to the service and commission charges of caravan site operators.

Mr. John Fraser

Charges for services are within the scope of the Counter-Inflation Act 1973, and I am advised that commission charges to which the Mobile Homes Act 1975 refers are subject to control by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment. I am discussing with my right hon. Friend certain other matters relating to caravan sites.

Mr. Hardy

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection how many representations he has received or have been received by the Price Commission concerning increased site rents and similar charges faced by the owners of holiday caravans during last year and during the first three months of 1977.

Mr. John Fraser

I have received 19 representations on this subject; I understand that the Price Commission has received about 200.
