asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if he is satisfied with the working of present arrangements about misleading advertising.

The advertising industry's code of practice provides guidelines in an area where standards are difficult to define precisely. The Trade Descriptions Act and a number of other statutes are also relevant to certain aspects of advertising. I am satisfied that this system is working satisfactorily, although it is, of course, kept under constant review.
