HC Deb 21 March 1977 vol 928 cc453-4W
Mr. Hayhoe

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many recognition claims have been made under Section 11 of the Employment Protection Act; and with what result.

Mr. Harold Walker

I am informed by ACAS that, at the end of February 1977, the Service had received 552 references under Section 11 of the Employment Protection Act. 128 of these had been withdrawn on settlement of the recognition issues involved, of which ACAS understands that over half resulted in the recognition of a trade union or unions. 20 had been the subject of formal reports by ACAS and in 15 of these cases the Service recommended that the company concerned should recognise a trade union or unions. The remaining references were still under consideration.
