§ Mr. Grocott
asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what percentage of prisoners released on parole have committed criminal offences whilst on parole for each of the following years: 1968, 1972 and 1976.

§ Mr. John
The number of persons known to have committed criminal offences on parole expressed as a percentage of the number of prisoners granted parole in each years is:

1976 4.4^*

The parole scheme became operative on 1st April 1968 and comparable figures are not available for that year.
