HC Deb 24 June 1977 vol 933 cc611-2W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what policy directives have been given to Departments in relation to their regional policy in order to reduce public expenditure; and how much saving has been achieved by such changes.

Mr. Joel Barnett

No directives have been given to Departments in relation to the Government's regional policy, in order to reduce public expenditure from the levels set out in the Government's most recent White Paper on Public Expenditure (Cmnd. 6721).
