HC Deb 21 June 1977 vol 933 c452W
Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why the régime for prisoners at Grendon Prison has been changed.

Mr. John

The rôle of Grendon Prison in the prison system has not been changed in any way. If my hon. Friend has any particular point in mind, perhaps he will write to me.

Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if Grendon Prison is to be closed; if so, when; and how much money has been spent in the last year on the prison.

Mr. John

There are no plans to close Her Majesty's Prison Grendon. Expenditure on building work at Grendon and the adjacent Spring Hill Prison is not recorded separately but total expenditure in 1976–77 was some £230,000.
