HC Deb 17 June 1977 vol 933 c301W
Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many representations he has received on the report of the working party on the Special Constabulary.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

Seven.

Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps he is taking to have consultations with members of the Special Constabulary on the recent report of the working party on their future.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

Consultations with members of the Special Constabulary took place throughout the time while the working party was studying the issues involved and considering what recommendations to make. Consultations on the implementation of the recommendations are now a matter for individual police authorities, chief officers of police and special constables and representative bodies in police forces.
