Mr. Grylls

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if it is his intention that the National Enterprise Board should pay interest in the current financial year on the total public dividend capital paid to it since its formation.

Mr. Kaufman

In due course I will consider the proposals on this matter which the Board is required to make under paragraph 5(3) of Schedule 2 to the Industry Act 1975.

Mr. Grylls

asked the Secretary of State for Industry why the National Enterprise Board has paid no interest on the £478 million of public dividend capital issued to it since its formation; and if his approval was given to this non-payment.
