HC Deb 15 June 1977 vol 933 c204W
Mr. Wm. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many persons have absconded in Northern Ireland in each of the past three years when they were released to attend the funerals of or visit seriously ill relatives; how many of these persons were convicted of terrorist type offences; and how many were from Police Divisions N., O.and P.

Mr. Dunn

In 1974, none; in 1975, one; and 1976, one. Both the prisoners who absconded were special category prisoners, and were both subsequently returned to custody. Neither was from Police Divisions N., O. or P.
