asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he considers that a reduction in overtime will increase employment; and what action he is taking in this regard.

It seems to me likely that a general redaction in overtime working, if it could be achieved, would result in some increase in recruit- ment although not proportionate to the overtime given up. The number of hours to be worked in any establishment is best left to consultation between management and unions.
