§ Mr. Brothertonasked the Minister of Overseas Development for what purposes public money is being made available to the Gambia Ports Authority for the provision of a floating post office to ply up and down the Gambia.
§ Mrs. HartMy Ministry is contributing £1 million to the cost of a replacement for the motor vessel "Lady Wright". I regard this as a very valuable expenditure from the aid programme. The "Lady Wright" is the major communication link in the Gambia carrying passengers, freight, and also, of course, post. It is a vital element in the economy of the Gambia. The new vessel is to be built in the shipyards of Ferguson Bros. (Port Glasgow) Ltd.
