HC Deb 28 July 1977 vol 936 c534W
Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what are the current salary scales of the various ranks in the Royal Ulster Constabulary, showing separately additional emoluments for rent and other allowances; and what was the average take-home pay last year for each of the various grades.

Mr. Dunn

The current salary scales for the various ranks in the Royal Ulster Constabulary are as follows:

able to members assigned to particular duties for example, detective duties-and all members in the ranks of constable to chief inspector are paid for overtime and for duty on public holidays and rest days.

It would not be possible without disproportionate cost to calculate figures for average take-home pay, since it would be necessary to distinguish voluntary deductions from compulsory deductions-that is, income tax, national insurance, etc.
