HC Deb 28 July 1977 vol 936 cc534-5W
Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether he will open a Northern Ireland office in Brussels for the assistance of Northern Ireland agriculture, commerce and industry in making contacts with the appropriate EEC authorities.

Mr. Concannon

No. The Office of the United Kingdom Permanent Representative to the European Communities is always willing to advise interested groups from Northern Ireland, as from other parts of the United Kingdom, on making contacts with EEC authorities. Moreover, I understand that organisations representing agricultural and commercial interests within the European Community, such as the Committee of Agricultural Organisations in the European Community (COPA) and the Committee of Commercial Organisations (COCCEE), maintain offices in Brussels for this purpose.
