HC Deb 28 July 1977 vol 936 cc621-2W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the concern felt by investors in the premium bond scheme, at the new advertisement containing the phrase "Guaranteed to win, or your money back", which can be misunderstood, he will change this advertisement immediately.

Mr. Denzil Davies

No. I do not consider this advertisement misleading. The headlines mentioned, which are intended to attract attention, make no reference to premium savings bonds so that the text below them must be read to identify the security concerned. This text makes it clear that each bond unit has its chance in the prize draws and that the investment is never lost.

There is no evidence of concern by investors.
