§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Lord President of the Council whether the Government's policy of a 10 per cent. ceiling in the increase in wages and salaries will be applicable to Members; and whether this 10 per cent. will be on the rate recommended and accepted by the Government and the House of Commons under the Boyle Committee's last review or on the lower rate of pay as reviewed during the past years.
§ Mr. FootThe Government's guidance on the general level of pay settlements as set out in Cmnd. 6882 is intended to be applied to all sectors of the community. On the question of Members' pay, as I have said previously, I intend that the House should have the opportunity to consider the whole general issue as soon as practicable.
