HC Deb 28 July 1977 vol 936 cc584-5W
Mr. McNamara

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether he proposes to take action to encourage investment in the Six Counties.

Mr. Mason

Yes. I have been reviewing the range of investment incentives available to encourage the development of existing industry and new inward investment. I shall be announcing very shortly the details of the changes which I propose to make. Moreover, I shall be making a comprehensive statement on the financial restructuring of the Northern Ireland electricity service. I believe that Government initiatives in this field also should serve to create a climate favourable to investment. The need for such action is accentuated by the unemployment figures for Northern Ireland issued earlier this week.
