HC Deb 28 July 1977 vol 936 cc634-5W
Mr. Sproat

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what estimate he has made of the loss of jobs in the Grampian Region as a result of the proposed downgrading of Aberdeen's travel-to-work area's development status.

Mr. Alan Williams

We expect no loss of jobs, directly attributable to this decision.

Mr. Sproat

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will visit Aberdeen during the Summer Adjournment to discuss with representatives of the Grampian Regional Council, Aberdeen District Council, Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce and local trade unions the possible loss of jobs consequent upon the downgrading of Aberdeen's travel-to-work area's development status.

Mr. Man Williams

I and my right hon. Friend the Minister of State, Scottish Office held a meeting on 26th July with a wide range of organisations representing Aberdeen and the surrounding area.
