HC Deb 28 July 1977 vol 936 cc468-9W
Mr. Weetch

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will list the locations of aircraft hangars in East Anglia which will be used for storing any grain surpluses.

Mr. Bishop

As I told my hon. Friend the Member for Birmingham, Hands-worth (Mr. Lee) on 25th July—[Vol. 936, c. 33–4]—plans for storing cereals taken into intervention are based on a combination of the use of commercial premises where space would be rented for the purpose and of adapting Government-owned properties.

There are no Government-owned properties which have been adapted for cereals storage in East Anglia itself; but there are properties within reasonable transport distance in Lincolnshire and Leicestershire.
