HC Deb 28 July 1977 vol 936 c469W
Mr. Cormack

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many elm trees have been lost as a result of Dutch elm disease; and what percentage this represents of the total number of elms estimated to be growing in Great Britain in 1970.

Mr. Strang

In Great Britain, some 9 million trees have been lost. This represents roughly 30 per cent. of the total original population.
