§ Mr. Teddy Taylorasked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) if he will now take steps to establish the number of jobs in Glasgow District Council's direct labour department that will be put at risk in consequence of the defeat of the Local Authority Works (Scotland) Bill; and if he will make a statement;
(2) if he has received any communication from the Glasgow District Council to the effect that jobs will be put at risk in its direct labour department in con- 418W sequence of the defeat of the Local Authority Works (Scotland) Bill; and if he will make a statement;
(3) why he named Glasgow as one of the district councils whose direct labour departments would lose jobs in consequence of the defeat of the Local Authority Works (Scotland) Bill.
§ Mr. MillanI refer the hon. Member to my reply of 25th July. I intend to be in touch with the local authorities concerned to consider further the employment implications of the defeat of the Local Authority Works (Scotland) Bill and the question of the reintroduction of legislation and in what form.—[Vol. 936, c. 27.]
