Mr. Forman

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will set out in a convenient table the use of energy and GNP per head at the latest available date for the following countries: (a) Canada, (b) the USA, (c) Norway, (d) Sweden, (e) Germany, (f) Belgium, (g) the Netherlands, (h) Australia, (i) West Germany, (j) the United Kingdom, (k) Denmark, (l) Switzerland, (m) France, (n) the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics, (o) Austria, (p) New Zealand, (q) Japan, (r) Italy and (s) Israel.

Comparable figures of gross national product for the different countries are not readily available. The latest information published by the United Nations relates to the year 1974 and covers gross domestic product and energy consumption per head. GDP is not available for the German Democratic Republic and the USSR. The following are the published figures:
