Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what steps he intends to take to ensure that taxi firms are not forced to close because of the decision of Cloverleaf Insurance Company Limited to withdraw from Northern Ireland, and the refusal of any other insurance company to insure the firm for public liability.

My officials are having discussions with representatives of the United Kingdom insurance industry with a view to encouraging sympathetic consideration of the case for providing cover for those persons formerly insured by this company.
