asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will detail the items which caused the cost of the National Health Service in Scotland to rise by 32.5 per cent. in 1976.

Of the increase of 32.2 per cent. (£143.8 million) in 1975℃76 over 1974℃75, 4.2 per cent. (£18.7 million) was made up of development, 19.5 per cent. (£86.9 million) in increases in the cost of salaries and wages and 8.5 per cent. (£38.2 million) in the cost of goods and other services.
