Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether he will give the salary and expenses and other emolu- ments paid to or received by the Chairman, Vice-Chairman and members of the English Tourist Board for each of the years since 1974 and the number of hours worked weekly or annually for these payments.

The salaries of the Chairman and of all other members of the English Tourist Board since 1974 have been as follows:

The appointments are part-time; the salaries are decided on the basis that the chairman averages three days a week and each board member two days a month. Particulars of exact hours worked are not available. Members are entitled to claim reasonable travel subsistence and incidental expenses necessarily incurred as a result of their work for the board. The board has revised its accounting procedures so that in respect of future financial years information will be able to be made available on expenses of board members.
