asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many pupils attended bilingual secondary schools in Wales in July 1967 and July 1977, respectively; and how many are expected to attend them in September 1977.

In January 1977, the latest date for which information is available, 6,001 childern attended a designed bilingual secondary school in wales. The equivalent figure for 1967 is not available, but in 1970, the earliest year for which information can be obtained, the figure was 2,017. Information on the numbers to be admitted to bilingual schools in September this year is not yet available.
