Mr.Gwynfor Evans

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is the total financial expenditure of the departments or advisory bodies for which he has responsibility or oversight in Wales.

Mr.John Morris

Based on the latest available information, the total voted expenditure in 1976–77; by the Welsh Office, including the expenses of the advisory bodies for which I am responsible and which report to me, was £478,959,000.

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list the advisory bodies which report to him.

The list is as follows:

  • Ancient Monuments Board for Wales
  • Celtic Sea Advisory Committee
  • Council for the Welsh Language
  • Historic Buildings Council for Wales
  • Local Government Boundary Commission for Wales
  • Place Names Advisory Committee
  • Welsh Committee for the Development of Health and Social Research
  • Welsh Council
  • Welsh Dental Committee
  • Welsh Industrial Development Advisory Board Welch Language Advisory Translation Panel Welsh Medical Committee
  • Welsh Nursing and Midwifery Committee Welsh Optical Committee
  • Welsh Pharmaceutical Committee
  • Welsh Scientific Advisory Committee

These are bodies whose function is wholly or mainly advisory and for which I am the sole Minister involved. A considerable number of other bodies which report to me jointly with one or more other Ministers are not included.
