§ Mr. BishopI understand from the Potato Marketing Board that 3,950 registered producers paid excess area levy contributions in 1976. The 1977 figures will shortly be available from registered producers but are not expected to differ markedly from previous years. Producers wishing to plant extra area can apply to the Board for a transfer of quota from other registered producers and the area planted in excess of quota is not expected to represent more than 3 per cent. of total plantings in Great Britain.
