HC Deb 21 July 1977 vol 935 c673W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many elderly mentally infirm are in the care of the local authority in Grimsby; and what expansion of services to this group is currently being planned.

Mr. Moyle

Most old people's homes accommodate a proportion of elderly mentally infirm persons, and, except for homes provided especially for them, returns made by local authorities do not discriminate between mentally infirm and other residents. Humberside County Council provides two special homes with 75 places in all, but neither is in the Grimsby division of the authority and there are no plans to build such homes there.
