HC Deb 21 July 1977 vol 935 c676W
Mr. van Straubenzee

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what representations he has received from MIND in relation to Broadmoor Hospital.

Mr. Moyle

The only representations we have received from MIND recently have been in connection with matters arising from its representation of two Broadmoor patients before the European Commission on Human Rights.

Mr. van Straubenzee

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what proposals he has for the rebuilding of Broadmoor Hospital.

Mr. Moyle

A feasibility study for the redevelopment of Broadmoor Hospital on its existing site is nearly complete but it is not expected that major reconstruction can begin until the new Park Lane Special Hospital, being built near Liverpool to relieve the male overcrowding at Broad-moor, is completed. Completion of Park Lane is scheduled for 1980.
