HL Deb 18 July 1977 vol 386 cc170-2WA
Lord O'HAGAN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will publish regularly (for example, in the six-monthly White Paper on Developments in the European Communities) statistics which show the effect of membership of the EEC on the cost of living, food prices and inflation in the United Kingdom, and thus reduce the need for Written and Oral Questions on these subjects.

Lord ORAM

No. It is not possible to separate all the effects of the Community from the many others which combine to influence the cost of living as expressed in various indices. Where the effects of particular developments can be identified estimates are published—as has been done for the effect of the recent CAP price settlement in the six-monthly White Paper on Developments in the European Communities.
