HC Deb 04 July 1977 vol 934 cc444-5W
Dr. Glyn

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (1) if he will take steps to ensure that individual paraplegics from Rhodesia, irrespective of their colour and the passports they hold, be allowed to compete as individuals in the International Stoke Mandeville Games for paraplegics, since team participation is prevented by United Kingdom legislation and United Nations resolutions;

(2) in the light of the fact that a multiracial Rhodesian group of paraplegics has been training for some time to enter the International Stoke Mandeville Games, if he will ensure that those selected will be granted admission to the United Kingdom in order to compete as individuals.

Mr. Rowlands

If there are any applications for travel documents from individual Rhodesians, these will be considered in the the light of all the circumstances.
