HC Deb 04 July 1977 vol 934 c421W
Mr. Ward

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his estimate of the number of qualified radiologists required to fill vacancies within the National Health Service; and what research has been undertaken into the reasons for the low recruitment into this profession.

Mr. Moyle

At 30th September 1976 there were 24 consultant posts in the National Health Service in England and Wales which had been advertised and which had not yet been filled. A further 24 consultant posts without a permanent holder had not been advertised during the previous year. My Department has recently commissioned research into the factors that influence a doctor's choice of career.
