§ Mr. EadieI am advised by the National Coal Board that between July 1957—when the Coal Mining (Subsidence) Act 1957 came into force—and March 1976, the latest date for which figures are available, the total cost to the Board of compensation for and repairs to mining subsidence damage was some £95 million.
