Mr. David Howell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his estimate of the proportion of the expenditure reductions on each programme announced on 15th December which represent a reduction in purchases of goods and services from the private sector.

The following table provides an estimate of the reductions on current and capital goods and services, excluding savings in expenditure on the Civil Service but allocating to programmes savings by the Property Services Agency, as a proportion of the total reduction on each programme announced in my right hon. Friend's statement of 15th December 1976.
