Mr. Kenneth Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Energy how many price increases have been imposed or contemplated announced by gas boards from January 1974 up to June 1977, in percentage terms.

The details of the forthcoming increase which will take effect from 1st April has still to be agreed, but I expect the overall average increase to be of the order of 10 per cent.
