Metropolitan counties and the GLC do not receive rate support grant. Resources element grant for 1977–78 cannot be calculated until the rate poundages of local authorities are known.

Figures for the three years are available only for the needs grant entitlements at main order stage; this is paid to metropolitan districts, London boroughs, and the shire counties. However, it should be noted that the 1975–76 and 1976–77 grant to the London boroughs did not include the London Rate Equalisation scheme payments. The equilisation arrangements for London were included in the main Rate Support Grant Order for 1977–78. The following are the figures:
