HC Deb 21 February 1977 vol 926 cc412-3W
Mr. Hardy

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what proportion of the United Kingdom's oil demand he expects to be met by home production on 1st April 1977 and on the first day of each quarter following to 1st October 1978.

Dr. J. Dickson Mabon

Daily production is at present equivalent to about one-third of United Kingdom daily oil demand. I cannot forecast the proportion for specific dates in the future, but I expect production to build up steadily towards net self-sufficiency in 1980.
