Mr. Townsend

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what action the Government have taken following the report of the European Commission on Human Rights concerning Turkish atrocities in Cyprus; and what further action will be taken.

The Government have studied the report and taken part in a preliminary discussion of it in the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers' Deputies. The discussions, which are confidential, will be resumed at a future meeting.
