Mr. Sproat

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) under what circumstances his Department will pay for the installation of a telephone for a person on social security, other than for a disabled or chronically sick person;

(2) under what circumstances his Department will pay for telephone bills for persons on social security other than chronically sick or disabled persons;

(3) what was the largest amount paid by his Department in respect of any one telephone bill for a person on social security in 1976.
