Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) if he is satisfied with the co-ordination of policy of the Scottish Tourist Board and the State-owned shipping companies; and if he will make a statement;

(2) what assessment he has made of the effect on tourism and on the economy of the Scottish islands of the proposed increase in fares by Messrs. Caledonian MacBrayne.

Changes in the tariffs of the Scottish Transport Group's shipping companies and consultations about these fall within the group's management responsibility.
