asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the tonnage of HMS "Wakeful"; when and where she was built; what she was used for before her acquisition by the Royal Navy; and whether she was in service with the Royal Navy before commencing the refit which was completed in November 1976.

HMS "Wakeful's" gross tonnage is 500 tons. She was built by Cochrane & Sons Ltd., Selby, in 1965. Before her acquisition by the Royal Navy she was used as an icebreaker, tug and salvage vessel. She spent 18 months in service with the Royal Navy before undergoing her refit.
