HC Deb 17 February 1977 vol 926 cc346-7W
Mr. Wyn Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Wales (1) whether, in view of recent flooding to a depth of five feet and more on the A55 at Llandudno Junction, he has asked for a remedial scheme to be prepared;

(2) if he will take action to ensure that the A55 at Llandudno Junction is at no time in the future flooded and made only passable by boat.

Mr. Alec Jones

I am satisfied that the highway drainage arrangements at this spot are of the standard normally provided. The immediate cause of the recent flooding was a blocked culvert some distance from the road which was quickly cleared. Remedial measures, which should ensure that such an occurrence is not repeated, have already been taken by the Welsh National Water Development Authority.
