HC Deb 16 February 1977 vol 926 c228W
18. Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what proportion of the United Kingdom is now covered by 1:25,000 second series Ordnance Survey maps; and when he expects (a) the whole of the country to be covered by such maps, and (b) each of the national parks to be so covered.

Mr. Guy Barnett

About a quarter of the total number of sheets in the 1:25,000 second series has already been published and the whole of Great Britain is expected to be covered by 1990. Under the present programme, coverage of the national parks with this new mapping is expected to be completed as follows: Lake District and Peak District, 1980; North York Moors, 1981; Snowdonia, 1982; Pembrokeshire coast, 1983; Brecon Beacons and Exmoor, 1984; Yorkshire Dales, 1985; Dartmoor and Northumberland, 1986. Some 1:25,000 second series sheets have already been published for some of these areas.
