HC Deb 16 February 1977 vol 926 cc224-5W
Mr. Michael Latham

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services why he is not prepared to compensate Mr. S. E. Webb, formerly of 21 Keepers Croft, East Goscote, Leicestershire, for his Department's failure to pay him sickness benefit in respect of the period 4th November 1974 to 18th January 1975 and from 14th April 1975 until 12th January 1976, in view of the fact that Mr. Webb was successful in his application for determination by him.

Mr. Orme

I shall be writing to the hon. Member on this matter.

Mr. Michael Latham

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if, in view of the fact that the failure of his Department to pay sickness benefit to Mr. S. E. Webb led to his incurring substantial financial hardship for which he remains uncompensated, and notwithstanding the Report of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration, he will reconsider his decision not to pay compensation to Mr. Webb.

Mr. Orme

No.
