Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many copies of each evening newspaper published in the North-West of England are purchased by his Department to keep himself and senior civil servants informed of regional news and opinion.

My Department purchases two copies of theLiverpool Echo and one of the Manchester Evening News. In addition, local offices of the Employment Service Agency purchase copies of all newspapers appropriate to their locality and co-operate with my Department's North West Regional Office in operating a Press cutting service.
