§ Mr. Charles R. MorrisCivil Service pension arrangements immediately before 1972 were governed by the Superannuation Act 1965, but earlier arrangements date back to the 18th century. It would require considerable research to discover what arrangements were made for those who had served not less than 10 years when pensions were first introduced or whether any arrangements were made for those who had already retired before the introduction of pension provisions. Changes that have been made in Civil Service pension arrangements have, however, normally applied only to those actually serving in the Civil Service at the time the change was agreed, retrospection in superannuation matters is rarely possible because of both the additional costs involved and the anomalies that would result.
