§ Mr. Woodasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science, in view of the proposed increased fees and limitation on the total numbers of overseas students in the United Kingdom, what forecast she has made of the numbers of such students likely to be studying in Great Britain in each of the years 1980–81 and 1981–82.
§ Mr. OakesThe question of a limitation on the number of overseas students in Great Britain from 1977–78 onwards is under discussion with the UGC and the local authority associations. At present, the forecast number of overseas students in 1980–81 and 1981–82 would be between 65,000 and 70,000, assuming continuation of current policies.
