HC Deb 14 February 1977 vol 926 cc68-9W
Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs to what extent British funds are committed to the UN payments to Lesotho following frontier difficulties with Transkei; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Rowlands

No British funds have been committed.

Security Council Resolution 402 called on all states, the United Nations and the United Nations agencies to provide assistance to help Lesotho overcome these difficulties. Her Majesty's Government already make a considerable contribution to the development of Lesotho under our aid programme; we have no plans to provide additional aid as a result of the border dispute.
